Instrument intelligence by unique RFID system technology
LM-Dental develops, produces and markets high tech dental hand instruments and their tracking system together with ultrasonic devices, orthodontic appliances and more. With the innovative product design and high-tech production technology we are the fastest growing manufacturer of hand instruments in Europe, the market leader in all the Nordic countries and over 80% of our products are exported globally. Founded in 1973, LM-Dental has been part of Planmeca since 1999.
New intelligence in the dental clinic
Working together with dental clinics has revealed many challenges in material handling and traceability. There are increasing requirements for patient safety and documentation, and logistics and instrument maintenance could be managed better and more effectively. We have developed the idea of a smart instrument that with its intelligence helps to tackle these challenges. LM Dental Tracking System (DTS) is the first commercially available system to use RFID technology to efficiently and accurately track, monitor and control instruments and materials in the dental industry. DTS’s cutting edge multi-read RFID readers give the visibility of instruments and materials from storage and maintenance through to clinic and patient care. DTS server software provides clinicians with clear traceability of where instruments and materials are, and by whom and on who they have been used.
Pioneer in Instrument Ergonomics
The ergonomics has been the guiding light of our product development since the establishment of the company. Our genuinely ergonomic hand instrument, LM-ErgoSense, can be integrated with an advanced RFID chip that can be scanned and registered with DTS. Also with contemporary coating technology we are able to add on additional features, that offer unique benefits for both the dental clinician and the patient. Sharpen free periodontal and non-stick restorative instruments are finally reality.
Sharp Diamond sharpen free coated hand instruments
In response to clinicians’ aspiration to minimize maintenance of dental instruments, we have launched Sharp Diamond sharpen free coated hand instruments. The new coating is composed using modern Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technology, making the instruments razor sharp, extremely hard, yet smooth and light. The sharpen free instruments are especially suitable for clinicians who want ergonomic, high quality hand instruments that naturally feels good in the hand, but also want to minimize the time spent maintaining dental instruments. Clinicians will enjoy full control and improved tactile sense, while easily shaving off calculus instead of fracturing it. Sharpen free coating, maximal wear resistance and comfort are the features that will be evident for both, the dental clinician and the patient.
All our products are produced in Finland and Sweden, combining high-tech production technology with handmade craftsmanship to gain a top-quality end result and highest functionality.
